The College of Natural and Applied Sciences of Summit University, Offa has organised its Maiden Conference which was held between 17th and 19th of August, 2021, at the Alhaja Adiat Abegbe Makanjuola Lecture Theatre. The theme of the Conference was: “Harnessing Science, Technology and Innovation for Security and Economic Development”S. According to the Local Organizing Committee Chairman, Dr. S.A. Balogun, the College organised the Academic Conference in line with the vision of the University to promote teaching and research in the Institution. The Opening Ceremony attracted Staff, Students and Researchers from across the Country with the keynote lectures titled “SARS-COV 2 Vaccines’ Myth and Reality” and “Innovation Research for African Development” were delivered by Prof. O.M. Kolawole and Prof. K.A. Gbolagade respectively.
A total number of seventy six (76) participants made up of forty-two (42) regular, two (2) Postgraduates and thirty-two (32) Undergraduates registered for the Conference. I his welcome address at the Opening Ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. H.O.B. Oloyede who was represented by Prof. K.A. Gbolagade expressed happiness at the massive turn-out of participants and charged them to leverage on the opportunity offered by the conference to further enrich their knowledge and broaden their horizon of research capabilities. Prof. H.O.B Oloyede commended the efforts and ingenuity of the organizers for coming up with the idea of the Maiden Academic Conference which he described as unprecedented in the annals of the University. The Vice-Chancellor equally commended the Governing Council, Management, Staff and Students of Summit University, Offa for their tremendous support and encouragement which enabled the College to record a huge success.
