It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Mass Communication, Summit University, Offa- the University of Ansar Ud Deen Society of Nigeria. The Department which was established on 24 August 2017 has a dedicated building and a standard studio complex that houses its television studio, radio studio, photojournalism studio and Public relations and Advertising studios. Thus, the Department awards Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree with options in three sequences such as Broadcasting, Journalism and Public relations and Advertising.
Therefore, the philosophy of the Department/Programme is to offer a comprehensive and quality undergraduate professionally oriented programme of training, that is built on religious and moral standard within the broad philosophy of the University oriented towards character and learning, for all categories of people that wish to pursue a career in public communication through the major forms of Mass Communication such as Journalism, Broadcasting, Advertising and Public relations as well as cinematography for national and global development.
Permit me to impress on you that you have taken the right decision in choosing this Department and our University for your undergraduate programmes. Having graduated two sets of undergraduates at the end of the 2021/2022 session, the Department got full accreditation at her first attempt from the 2021 accreditation exercise organized by the National University Commission. Therefore, with your enrolment into our programmes, you will be joining a special community of young scholars who are dedicated, purposeful and passionate in impacting the right knowledge and skills that will positively and amazingly transform your life, character and intellectual capacity.
I hope that you will find your time at the Department of Mass Communication, Summit University, Offa, highly rewarding. It is my belief that by the time you finish your intellectual journey on our ship, you will feel satisfied, fulfilling and imbued with quality and sufficient knowledge and educational experience that will adequately usher you into the world of your chosen profession-with the assurance that you will grow and forever move forward.
